Family-Friendly Performances

There are a number of ways to introduce children to the performing arts, but none quite as immersive as treating the family to a live performance. From music to acrobatics to theater, Fall ushers in a slew of performances in Indy that will delight the whole family. Check out just a few of the highlights below:
Flip FabriQue – “Catch Me!”

Join Flip FabriQue for their stunning gravity defying show Catch Me! This young troupe, founded by a group of friends who are professional circus artists, is a cirque-style celebration of gravity defying fun and friendship. Bring the whole family to see these six acrobats and witness their unique performance that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

 

Finding Neverland

Finding Neverland is the smash Broadway hit that tells the incredible story behind one of the world’s most beloved characters: Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound theatergoers. Now you can share this magical adventure with your whole family.

Annie

The Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Sing along with some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Maybe”, “Hard Knock Life” and “Tomorrow,” as you follow everyone’s favorite orphan (and her faithful sidekick, Sandy) on a music-filled adventure to find her family.

Pinocchio

October 13- November 11
Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre

Beef & Boards brings to life the timeless tale of the kind-hearted puppet maker Gepetto who dreams of having a son. To grant his wish, the Blue Fairy brings his wooden puppet Pinocchio to life, and the adventures begin. This show is just one hour long with no intermission, making it perfect for the younger set. A snack and juice box is included in the cost of admission.

SymFUNy Sundays: Carnival of the Animals

October 22, 3 pm
Hilbert Circle Theatre, downtown Indianapolis

The lion, the elephant, hens and roosters, the kangaroo, the swan and an aquarium all come to life in Camille Saint-Saëns’ musical menagerie, Carnival of the Animals, part of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra’s symFUNy Sundays Family Concert series. Driven by dueling pianos, this fun-filled classical music staple has inspired everyone from American poet Ogden Nash to The Wiggles!​ Doors open one hour prior to the performance.
