THE POLAR EXPRESS Train Ride at the French Lick Scenic Railway brings the children’s book to life on a round trip of about 75 minutes. The conductor punches tickets, dancing chefs serve hot chocolate and a cookie, and passengers read along with The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Santa boards to give each guest a silver sleigh bell, and elves lead caroling on the ride back. Pajamas are encouraged.
Most of the season is sold out, including every First Class and Dome Class seat. The dates below are the ones that still had lower or upper coach seats on Oct. 8. Coach seats cost $45 to $65 depending on the date, plus fees, and children under 2 ride free on a lap. Tickets are nonrefundable, and families should arrive an hour early.
