The Broad Ripple Duck Race + 5K brings a playful race-day tradition to Broad Ripple Village with a 5K, fun run, children’s activities and thousands of rubber ducks racing down the canal. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite duck gear for the morning run, which finishes at the Duck Race festival.
Families can enjoy free children’s activities on the Rainbow Bridge overlooking the Broad Ripple Canal on Guilford Avenue, north of Westfield Boulevard. Guests can also visit the duck sales booth to purchase rubber ducks before the race begins.
The rubber ducks will enter the water where the Monon Trail crosses the Central Canal, then race west down the canal toward the finish line near the pedestrian bridge by College Avenue. Proceeds support BRVA programs and projects that enrich the community, amplify public spaces and improve quality of life in Broad Ripple.
Schedule Highlights
- 9 a.m. – 5K and fun run begins
- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Free children’s activities at the Duck Race festival
- 12:30 p.m. – Rubber duck race begins
