Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” at IRT

If you’re looking for the chance to take your littles to one of their first theatrical experiences, consider the Indiana Repertory Theatre’s “Elephant & Piggie’s ‘We are in a Play!’ – a joyful musical that teaches children about friendship by modeling how to share with others, to listen, to respect difference, to celebrate kindness, and so much more.

During our preview visit – we found the audience (mainly kids ages 3-8) to be fully engaged, laughing and steadily focused on the energetic actors. Many of the kids were very familiar with the book series. (And my daughter and I happened to recognize actor Devan Mathias from the Civic Theatre’s recent performance of Mary Poppins.)

Elephant & Piggie’s “We Are in a Play!” is by award-winning children’s illustrator and author Mo Willems. (Check out his books here.)This first-ever musical in this youth-serving series will run at the Indiana Repertory Theatre from February 21 – March 24 in the Cabaret room.
