The show is jam-packed with exciting moments from award winning shows that your family will remember for a lifetime. Before you and the family head to Disney on Ice, here are some things to keep in mind.

Set expectations (for your kids and yourself).

One thing you (parents) need to be prepared for is how many shopping temptations there will be. Before you walk through the doors, make sure you set clear expectations about what your kids are or are not allowed to have. If possible, consider asking grandma and grandpa for a “fun fund” before you go. It’ll make them feel included and take a little of the burden off of you!

Also, make sure you prepare them for sitting 1.5 to 2 hours. Especially if this is your kids’ first show like this, explain to them how you want them to behave. Luckily, this show is a blast, so your kids surely won’t be bored, even if they’re having to sit still a little longer than usual! Disney On Ice encourages dancing at your seat and crowd interaction. Kids can really express themselves and dance, wiggle, sing or scream-sing to their hearts content. They will recognize many of their favorite Disney songs. Bankers Life Fieldhouse seats fold up, so if your little ones want to get up and wiggle, they’ve got the space to do so. On the other hand, make sure they don’t lean back too far and get folded up right into the seat!

Dress code.

First, we recommend you wear Disney stuff. You’ll understand once you get there! It’s a magical experience and you’ll want to be included in every way possible. Kids and adults will be singing along, so you may as well look the part! Adults are not allowed to wear costumes inside the show.

Secondly, you’ll want to dress warm. Layers are key! Bankers Life Fieldhouse can be a little chilly – especially when the floor is covered in ice.

Parking.

Bankers Life makes planning ahead easy on this one. With the SpotHero app, you can reserve and pay for your parking spot ahead of time. If downloading yet another app doesn’t sound like something you want to do, never fear! You can do it online also.

If you want to avoid having your car downtown altogether, this is a great opportunity to utilize the Indy Go bus system, with the downtown transit center just a 5-minute walk from Bankers Life. Find a route that works for you!

Get there early.

You won’t want to feel rushed or miss a thing! With all the people who’ll be there and things to see before the show even begins, give yourself enough time to take it all in. It can take a bit to get settled at your seats, especially if you’re not familiar with Bankers Life (or have a lot of stairs to climb). Doors open one hour prior to each performance, but with multiple performances every day, guests will be coming and going at the same time. Allow plenty of time for parking, crowds and a quick bathroom break before going to your seat.

Get into the glow.

It’s easy to take for granted the fact that your kids have possibly never been to a venue like Bankers Life or to a show like Disney on Ice before. When the lights are dimmed, it’s impossible to peel your eyes from the magic unfolding before you, especially for your little ones. The best thing you can do is lean into the experience and enjoy the glow with that childlike wonder that Disney encourages.
