Discover the Family-friendly Charm of S&H Campground in Greenfield

A short drive from Indianapolis, S&H Campground offers lots of fun for families who love to camp.

Located just 20 minutes from Indianapolis, S&H Campground in Greenfield is the ideal place to spend some quality time together as a family — and some quality time in the great outdoors. The campground offers a variety of camping styles, from primitive plots to set up a tent, to motorhome and cabin rentals, to spots to hook up your RV or camper and settle in. There’s something for every type of camper at S&H Campground.

Camping and Glamping at S&H Campground

My family and I are not the most experienced campers, but we do love spending time outdoors together. So, we opted to rent one of S&H’s cabins. The cabins are a step up from tent camping, and offer a nice alternative when you want more comfort and protection from the elements.

Our cabin slept six, with a bunk bed that my kids loved. All of the cabins at S&H are “dry cabins,” which means they don’t have restrooms or running water inside the cabins. However, communal restrooms (with showers) are located steps away. What the cabins do have is a couch and chair, a mini refrigerator, microwave, and flat-screen TV. Air conditioning and electric heat are available for an additional fee.

All cabins have a front porch, and ours also had a back porch. This was nice because our cabin backed up to the creek, so we could go outside and see the beautiful water and the geese swimming in it. Every unit also has an outdoor picnic table and fire ring, which came in handy when it was time to break out the s’mores!

Camping All Year Long

S&H Campground is open year-round, so no matter what time of the year you visit, there is always something to do. But the best time to visit is from April through October, when activities are scheduled every weekend.

In addition to standard campground amenities like fishing and swimming, S&H provides guests with a variety of planned events to enhance the camping experience. The campground is family-owned, and they encourage campers to share the fun through live music, outdoor movies, and even magic shows.

Fall Activities at S&H

  • Fall Fun All Around the Campground: October is a month of fall activities, such as crafts, games, dress up, pumpkin carving, hay rides, site decorating contest and lots more.
  • Extended Heated/Lighted Pool Hours: Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean the pool is closed! S&H has extended the heated/lighted pool hours into October. Don’t miss their big pool party on October 7!

Indoor Family Activities at S&H Campground

S&H is open year-round, so there’s always something to do, even when the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. This campground has lots of fun for families who want to take their camping adventures inside.

Indoor Blacklight Mini Golf

Escape from the heat (or the rain!) with a game of indoor blacklight putt-putt. The 9-hole mini golf course is a blast, and it was one of the activities that my children begged to visit the most!

Arcade

The arcade is located in the same building as the indoor putt-putt course. This fun space features games like pinball, a racing game and claw machines. The games at the arcade are $1 each. In the arcade is also a small, separate room where kids’ arts & crafts take place throughout the week.

Outdoor Family Activities

There are lots of outdoor activities for families to do around the campground!

Swimming

Around Memorial Day through Labor Day, the swimming pool is open and ready for families to splash their hearts out.

Outdoor Miniature Golf

Next to the swimming pool is a fun outdoor mini putt-putt course. All around the course, you’ll be greeted by zoo animals as you try to get that elusive hole-in-one!

Playgrounds

S&H has multiple playgrounds around the campground. My family and I spent a couple of hours walking around and visiting them all!

Fishing

Don’t forget to bring your fishing rods! S&H Campground has a creek running through it, as well as stocked ponds full of fish.

Eats and Treats

Located in the Family Fun Park is Grounds & Mounds, the on-site coffee shop/ice cream parlor at S&H. This was one of our first stops when we arrived at S&H. (We needed ice cream!) You’ll find many ice cream flavors to get in a cup or cone, or choose one of their huge banana splits, homemade jumbo ice cream sandwiches or sundaes. My oldest chose a milkshake that was served in a cup with an edible rim! Sweets lovers will also find lots of huge cupcakes with tall swirls of frosting in the refrigerated case. These cupcakes come from Sugar Rush, the local Greenfield bakery that’s owned by the same family who owns S&H Campground.

One morning during our visit, we decided to get breakfast at the Market Place, the cafe that’s located in the campground. It was a good decision, because they make a great breakfast here! They also serve many kid-friendly options, including waffles and hot cocoa, biscuits and gravy, fruit cups and egg sandwiches. The Market Place also serves lunch and dinner, and you’ll find items on the menu like taco salads, club sandwiches and pretzels with cheese.
