Devour Indy transforms area restaurant weeks into one event

Goodbye Northside Nights, Chow Down Midtown and more. Hello Devour Indy!

These popular restaurant week events – which took place at various times throughout the year depending on the neighborhood – announced today that they will return in 2017 under a new, combined all-city event known as Devour Indy

Here’s the information from the official press release:

Restaurant week events – Devour Downtown, Devour Northside and Chow Down Midtown – will combine to create one large city-wide event, Devour Indy beginning in 2017. The regional restaurant week experience will take place twice a year – two weeks in the winter and two weeks in the summer.  The inaugural Devour Indy will run from Monday, Jan. 23 – Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 and Monday, Aug. 21 – Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.

Devour Indy organizers anticipate more than 300 participating restaurants from six areas: Downtown, Midtown, Northside, Southside, Eastside and Westside. During the event, diners will be able to take advantage of three-course, value-priced menus including vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

“Devour Indy will provide an opportunity for even more eateries to participate in a restaurant week event to help showcase the Circle City and surrounding areas as a thriving region and travel destination,” said Patrick Tamm, president and CEO of the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association (InRLA). “We expect at least half a million people to take advantage of the Devour Indy dining experience in addition to promotions offered at partner hotels and local attractions.”

The original Indianapolis restaurant week, Devour Downtown, began in 2005 with less than 25 eateries. Originally developed by the Indianapolis Downtown Restaurant and Hospitality Association (IDRHA) in conjunction with InRLA, the event grew to more than 90 restaurants in 11 years.

With the success of Devour Downtown, eateries across Indianapolis expressed interest in participating in restaurant weeks, which led to Devour Northside (formerly Northside Nights) launching seven years ago and Chow Down Midtown starting six years ago.

The list of participating restaurants and menus will be released soon. For more information, visit DevourIndy.com.
