“Animals And All That Jazz” take over the Indianapolis Zoo

It’s time for summer concerts to return to the Indy area, and the Indianapolis Zoo is always a favorite for local families. Back for their 28th year, Thursday nights are a tradition at the Zoo with great music and food, and of course, the animals!

Free admission to the IMA

Following suit with some of our other local museums and hotspots, the Indianapolis Museum of Art also offers free admission on the first Thursdays of every month from 4-9 pm. Perfect for a date night, evening out with the family or a little “me” time.

Celebrate the Glorious Fourth at Conner Prairie

Join the residents of 1836 in Prairietown as they celebrate our country’s birthday! Help decorate the town, join in games, dance, sing patriotic songs and take an acting lesson with the Coleman Company of Comedians. Test your brains and brawn by participating in history quizzes and the strongest farmhand competition. Participate in militia drills, sample muster day cakes, learn to quilt at the Gregory home, hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence and help honor military veterans on this most important holiday.

Kids TRI for Kids

Introducing kids to exercise and fitness early on brings lifelong benefits. And the Kids TRI For Kids series, which runs all summer, is a great start. This monthly event offers both a triathlon and duathlon with a mix of swimming, cycling and running that encourages safe and friendly competition. Races are divided into 10 and under groups and ages 11-14.

Summer Lunch Bunch returns

Each year, the Kids Summer Lunch Bunch organization dedicates itself to providing healthy lunches, free books, exercise and socialization opportunities to children of Hendricks County. Each town that participates puts their own spin on the idea, but the concept is still the same – to serve children in need with a healthy lunch and friends to enjoy it with.

Hit a strike on summer fun

Each year select bowling centers across the country participate in the Kids Bowl Free program. With more than 1,200 participating centers (including many in the greater Indianapolis area), kids can stay active and try their hand at this sport – all at the cost of FREE!  Registration is required.
