Q&A with Club SciKidz:
What makes Club SciKidz unique?
- STEM.org Accredited: Officially vetted for academic excellence and 21st-century skill-building.
- Massive variety: 60+ unique themes for grades PK–8, ranging from space and robotics to forensic detectives.
- Hands-on “make-and-take”: Campers build physical projects like robots, 3D prints, or chemical creations to take home.
- Professional instructors: Classes are led by trained educators, not just general counselors.
- Friday Family Day: Weekly showcases where families can see campers’ inventions in action.

What activities are offered?
Club SciKidz offers 60+ age-appropriate themes (grades PK–8) that bridge the gap between “cool” and “educational,” including:
- Robotics & tech: Building and programming VEX BattleBots, drone piloting, and developing AI/chat bots.
- Medical & vet science: Performing “surgeries” in Mini Medical School, suturing in Emergency Vet, and DNA extraction.
- Coding & gaming: Minecraft coding, video game design with Scratch, and 3D printing custom prototypes.
- Extreme science: Rocket launches, forensic crime scene processing, chemistry concoctions, and paleontology digs.
- Creative STEAM: Special effects (SFX) makeup, K-pop themed science challenges, and stop-motion animation.
What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
Club SciKidz maintains small group sizes to support safety and individualized attention during hands-on labs.
- Pre-K & Kindergarten (ages 4–5): 8:1 to 9:1 ratio
- Grades 1–8 (ages 6–15): 10:1 to 12:1 ratio
- Professional oversight: Each location is managed by a Site Director and Assistant Site Director who are available throughout the day
How much time do the campers spend outside?
Campers typically spend about 60–90 minutes outside each day, weather permitting, usually split into two sessions.
- Post-lunch recess (about 30 minutes): Unstructured play and social time
- Afternoon team building (about 45 minutes): Structured outdoor games and challenges
During extreme heat, outdoor time is limited to 30-minute increments with shaded water breaks every 10 minutes. On very hot or rainy days, Club SciKidz transitions to high-energy indoor games to keep campers comfortable and safe.

Does Club SciKidz provide lunch/snacks, or do parents need to provide them?
- Lunch: Campers must bring a sack lunch and a drink each day.
- Snacks: Families should pack two snacks (one for the morning and one for the afternoon).
- Nut-free policy: Club SciKidz is a strictly nut-free camp, so all food items must be free of peanuts and tree nuts.

- Junior counselors: High school upperclassmen (ages 16–18) who assist in labs with a focus on leadership and safety.
