Celebrate dad all weekend at the IMA!

Looking for the perfect way to honor dad this Father’s Day? The Indianapolis Museum of Art is offering unique gifts and experiences to celebrate the special guy in your life, all weekend long!

Tee off with dad at the IMA’s new artist-designed Mini Golf course, featuring 18 artist-designed holes themed around Indiana history, heritage and landmarks. The course is open during regular Museum hours. On Thursday from 5-9 p.m., bring dad out for some friendly competition at the special Family Night celebration on the course. Enjoy live music from Alex Hall and treat dad to a cold beer from Sun King Brewing as you putt through covered bridges, city landmarks and even a reproduction of Kurt Vonnegut’s office. The family with the lowest combined score at the end of the night will win free tickets to the screening of The National Bank of Indianapolis Summer Nights film, The Iron Giant, on July 8.  Before you leave, snag a souvenir like Mini Golf at the IMA pint glasses, polos and cufflinks in the Museum Store.

On Saturday, pack a picnic and Frisbee and bring dad for a day of live music and fun under the sun in The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art and Nature Park: 100 Acres. The IMA’s annual Summer Solstice celebration features concerts, food trucks and the 2nd Annual Indy Art Swap. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Is dad a history buff? Bring him for a tour of the special exhibition, 19 Stars of Indiana Art: A Bicentennial Celebration, on Sunday at 2 p.m. The exhibition showcases the wonderful works of men and women who were born, raised, or worked in the Hoosier state. A docent-led tour is included with general admission. Afterwards, hop on the IMA tram for a driving tour of the historic Oldfields estate. Tickets are free for members and $5 for the public.

Still need a gift for dad? Pick up a beer glass set, stainless steel wallet or Indiana cufflinks in the Museum Store. The store is also offering 20 percent off watches through Sunday.
