Amazon Family, Not Amazon Mom

As many of you know, since the passing of dad blogger Oren Miller, there has been a renewed push to get Amazon Mom to change the name to Amazon Family, the same name it is called in many countries around the world. It was a cause Oren took up a couple of years ago, and with his recent death it seemed like a good time for the world of dad bloggers to help make this change, sort of as a way to honor him.

Plus, lets face it, at the end of the day it’s not just moms ordering diapers and parenting their kids, it’s dads too! Times have changed. Roles men and women play in families have changed. It’s time for Amazon to change.

When this topic first came up in the dad blogger community, I had no intention of writing about it. It wasn’t something I was terribly bothered by, I felt whatever I wrote would seems fake, artificial, even forced.

Over the last few days, my opinion has started to change. Since Tuesday, the day after Oren’s funeral, I read dozens of posts from people passionate about this issue wanting answers from Amazon. I’ve retweeted hundreds of tweets urging Amazon to make the change. In the last 24 hours I’ve read articles by Buzzfeed, The Consumerist, AdWeek, Geek Wire, The Verge, Today, and CNN, all wanting to hear Amazon’s side of the story.

How exactly have they responded to the over 6 million tweets asking for answers?

They haven’t.
