September is the peak of apple season in Indiana, and there are plenty of ways to celebrate this delicious fruit right here in Hamilton County.
Prairie Tykes Apples, Apples, Apples
As the title suggests, this 45-minute program for 2-year olds and their parents or grandparents, puts the focus on the apple. Take part in apple activities, create an apple craft and take a hayride (weather permitting) to celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday.

Conner Prairie Apple Store
The Apple Store celebrates its return on Sept. 1 with a 15 percent discount on all items. From there, the store will be open 11am-5pm Tuesdays through Sundays through Oct. 31. During October’s Headless Horseman, hours will be extended until 9 p.m. Its doors will be open on both Labor Day and Halloween. Popular products returning this season include hand-dipped caramel apples, gourmet caramel apples, cider slushies, fresh popcorn, apple pies, gifts, candy and various treats. New this season in honor of Indiana’s 200th birthday, the store will feature a Bicentennial Gourmet Apple, which will be available all season, and Bicentennial Hand-Dipped Chocolate Caramels. Also new is the Chocolate Caramel Toffee Crunch. Yum!

Apple Picking at Stuckey Farm
If you prefer to get your apples straight from the tree, head to Stuckey Farm in Sheridan. Features U-pick apples, free wagon rides through the orchard, cider press, picnic area and country market. On weekends, Sept. 17-Oct. 23, be sure to check out their Harvest Festival, which features a different theme every weekend, all packed with family-friendly fun!
