What is Ignite Art Studio and Makerspace?

Ignite Art Studio and Makerspace provides access to equipment and supplies, so that patrons can learn new skills and develop their creativity at their own pace. All of the activities at Ignite are self-paced — there are no classes offered. Just walk in and explore!

What’s Offered?

Want to create an origami frog? There’s a kit for that. Need to sew a cozy pillow? There’s a kit for that. Want to create a vinyl sign for your bedroom wall? There’s a kit for that, too.

Ignite Art Studio and Makerspace has a library of kits with all the supplies and tools needed to try a variety of activities. They are available for check-out and use in the Ignite Studio, and must be checked-in before the library closes. You’ll also find items available like sewing machines, pottery wheels, Cricut machine, tools and more. 

 

Other creativity zones include:

  • A.V. Studio: An audio/video production studio, with free access to audio and video production equipment, mixing console, microphones, high-end cameras, lighting equipment, a green screen and more.
  • Digital Media Labs: Four lab spaces are available for free, each equipped with a 27” iMac with retina display and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • Maker Areas: Zones are available to make a mess with paints and clay, or create something beautiful from paper or fabric in the clean zone. 
  • Maker in Residence: A local central Indiana artist is available to offer support, by reservation. Artists serve 6-12 week terms in this space, exhibit their work, offer educational experiences to patrons, and provide insight into their own creative process. 

If you can dream it, then you can probably do it at the Ignite Art Studio and Makerspace.

How Much Does It Cost?

Here is the coolest part of all: Most of Ignite Art Studio and Makerspace is absolutely free. You don’t even need a library card or be a residents of Fishers. It is free for any person who would like to come in and use it! The only part of the makerspace that does require a library card is the A.V. Studio.
