Water Slides
When you step inside the aquatic center, one of the first things that will catch your eye is the huge, waterslide that snakes above the water. This super fun, 15-foot-tall slide sends you careening around a few twists and turns before it shoots you out into the warm water below. You must be at least 48 inches tall to ride this waterslide, so very young kids will probably have to sit this one out.
Zero-Entry Pool and Toddler Area
But not to fear: The young ones have their own fun, too! A kid-friendly pool area features a shallow place where small children can splash and paddle. The water in this area ranges from zero to 3 feet deep, so itโs a good place for kids who want to dip their toes in and get comfortable with swimming. The young-kid area also features a water playhouse with stairs to climb and slides. It also has a ramped entryway that leads right to the water, making it accessible for people with special needs.
Lap Pool and Spa for Adults
If youโre not big on all the bells and whistles that come with visiting an aquatic park and you want to swim, Indy Island has you covered, too. In the back of the center, there is a separate lap pool that is divided into three lanes and goes from 3ยฝ feet to 6 feet in depth. There’s also a spa in the back, and it’s for adults only. Youโll also find many deck chairs for lounging and checking out the views.
Indy Island wants to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone, so there are always several lifeguards walking around the perimeter of the aquatic center. One thing to note is that for safetyโs sake, each child 9 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult and be within armโs reach at all times.
Indy Island does not allow outside food and drink, but they have a small snack bar in the lobby where you can purchase water, soft drinks and snacks like chips and ice cream, or even hot dogs and pizza by the slice.
Indy Island might not be the biggest indoor aquatic center in Indianapolis, but the price is hard to beat for the hours of indoor water fun you will have. Plus, you donโt have to wait for perfect weather to have a splashing good time!
