If you have Harry Potter fans like mine in your family, you know it’s a big week. We just finished the first book of the series during summer vacation and are powering on to the second, so this milestone definitely hit our radars: On July 31, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child hits bookshelves, and anticipation for J.K. Rowling’s newest book is truly magical!

Harry Potter: The Fountain of Fair Fortune

Barnes and Noble at Greenwood Park, 1251 US 31 North, Greenwood

The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a Wizarding classic, first came to Muggle readers’ attention in the book known as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Join Barnes and Noble for The Fountain of Fair Fortune and make a fun-filled wizarding craft and maybe a little magic. Date: Friday, 7/29 at 10:30am.

 

Harry Potter Countdown To Midnight Party

Barnes and Noble at The Shops at River Crossing, 8675 River Crossing Blvd, Indianapolis

Also occurring at Barnes and Noble, 14790 Greyhound Plaza, Carmel

Join the Barnes and Noble teams for a special Countdown to Midnight Party leading up to the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One & Two, a special rehearsal edition script book, which goes on sale 7/31 at midnight. The party will feature a special Muggle Wall where customers can share their favorite memories of Harry Potter as well as amazing giveaways and fun activities! Date: Saturday, 7/30 at 8pm.

 

Harry Potter Birthday Bash

Glendale Branch Library, Keystone Shopping Center, 6101 Keystone Ave, Indianapolis

Celebrate the script release of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II,” as well as Harry Potter’s 36th birthday! There will be games, prizes, a Harry Potter movie marathon, photo booth and a 2pm performance by the improv group, One Size Fits All. Costumes are welcome, and birthday cake will be served at 3pm. Date: Saturday, 7/30 from 10am-4pm.

Cursed Child Day at Kids Ink Bookstore

5619 North Illinois Street, Indianapolis

Kids Ink will open at its regular time on Sunday, July 31st with plenty of copies of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to sell, however those that pre-order can expect first-choice of some extra baubles and swag. This party is free and open to the public. Visitors that come in costume will be heaped with praise. Anyone that drops spoilers can expect to be cursed. Date: Sunday, 7/31, 1-5pm.

 

Harry Potter Read Day

Nora Branch Library, 8625 Guilford Ave, Indianapolis

Children of all ages are invited to join the Brebeuf Preparatory School Harry Potter Club and the Nora Branch staff to learn some magic and participate in Hogwarts treats and crafts. Drop in anytime between 2-4pm for fun. Costumes are encouraged! Date: Tuesday, 8/16.
