Q&A with Bach to Rock Music School:
What makes Bach to Rock Music School unique?
Bach to Rock Music School offers a unique and dynamic summer camp experience that caters to all musical interests. In addition to our fan favorite rock band camps, we offer specialized programs like Glee Club, Rock City, and Music Technology.
Rock Band Camp brings together aspiring musicians to form a real band, where they rehearse, perform, and develop their skills on instruments like guitar, drums, bass, and vocals, culminating in a live performance.
Glee Club focuses on vocal harmony and performance, allowing students to explore their singing talents in a fun, group setting.
Rock City introduces our youngest rock stars to the excitement of music through age-appropriate lessons on instruments and performance.
Music Technology camps delve into the world of music production and recording arts, teaching students how to create their own beats, the art of DJing, and how to record music like a pro.
With opportunities for live performances, hands-on learning, and collaboration across different genres, Bach to Rock’s summer camps inspire creativity, boost confidence, and offer a one-of-a-kind musical experience.
What activities are offered at Bach to Rock Music School?
Bach to Rock summer camps offer a wide variety of engaging musical activities, including instrument lessons, group rehearsals, vocal training, and hands-on music production. Campers participate in band practice, collaborate with peers on songwriting, record as a group in our state-of-the-art studio, and work toward live performances. Specialized camps like Glee Club, Rock City, and Beat Making also feature fun activities like choreography, music theory games, and beat creation using modern production tools. Whether performing on stage, creating new music, or exploring different genres, campers enjoy a supportive and creative environment where they can grow as musicians and have fun!
What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
At Bach to Rock, we maintain a low camper-to-counselor ratio to ensure each student receives personalized attention and support. Camps are organized into small groups and students are paired by age for optimal learning and teamwork. For camps with more than six students, a second teacher is added to ensure that every camper gets the guidance they need to thrive in a focused, supportive environment.
How much time do the campers spend outside?
Weather permitting, campers enjoy outdoor breaks during the day. AM campers have a 30-minute lunch break outside, while PM campers get a 30-minute snack break. These outdoor moments give students a chance to recharge, socialize, and enjoy some fun in the sun before returning to their musical activities.
Does the camp provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?
Bach to Rock summer camps do not provide lunch or snacks, so we ask that parents send their campers with a packed lunch (for AM campers) or snack (for PM campers) each day, along with a water bottle.
What is the typical daily schedule for campers?
A typical day at Bach to Rock summer camp is filled with music, fun, and collaboration. Campers can be dropped off daily starting at 8:30 AM. The day begins with a warm-up and an introduction to the day’s activities, followed by music lessons and guided group sessions that ensure students are making progress towards their goal of performing at the end of the week. AM campers enjoy a lunch break around 11 AM, while PM campers have a snack break each afternoon. Campers then continue with music lessons, band rehearsals, or creative learning sessions throughout the day. Each day also includes time for outdoor breaks, weather permitting. AM camps end at 12:30 PM, and PM or all-day camps finish at 4:00 PM.
How old are the counselors and how are they trained?
Bach to Rock camp counselors are professional musicians who are carefully selected for their experience and passion for teaching music. All lead counselors are 18 years or older and either current instructional staff at the school or collegiate musicians pursuing music-related degrees. Counselors undergo training in camp best practices with school directors and instructors to ensure a safe, fun, and educational environment for all campers.
What accommodations are made for campers with special needs?
Bach to Rock welcomes students with diverse learning styles to participate in our camps and strives to make accommodations whenever possible. While we are not a specialized or music therapy center, we work closely with parents and families to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed. We have experience working with students with a vast variety of learning, sensory, and processing needs, and we provide tailored accommodations such as additional breaks, structured routines, ear protection, and a calm, supportive environment. To ensure that all campers receive the attention and care they need, we may also provide additional staff to support specific students and help the camp run smoothly. Our goal is to create an inclusive, positive experience for every camper.
