On the grounds of Camp Belzer, the Skip + Alex Lange Innovation Center is a hub for adventure and education for the community and central Indiana Scouts. The newly renovated facility, which is located near Ft. Harrison State Park in Lawrence, has many fun activities for all ages, including:
- An air adventure course
- Rock climbing and bouldering walls
- Indoor archery
- A makerspace
- Robotics and technology exploration
The great thing about Lange Innovation Center is that it’s not just for Scouts — it’s open for everyone to enjoy! On Saturdays, day passes are available to the public, which are $20 and allow you in-and-out access all day.

SkyTrail Air Adventure Course
Kids and adults who want to take the adventure to new heights might love the SkyTrail Air Adventure Course, which has 10 different obstacles all connected for fun in the air. Participants get harnessed and helmeted, and can then try out the different obstacles while being suspended 9 feet in the air. Kids must be at least 42 inches tall to go on the course with an adult, and 48 inches or taller to go on the course alone. The SkyTrail Air Adventure Course is only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Rock Climbing Wall
Lange has two rock climbing walls, providing many opportunities to take learning and self confidence to new heights. The main rock climbing wall features seven lanes for climbing, each lane with four paths to the top that increase in difficulty. The north tower rock wall, with three lanes and three options to get to the top, offers a view out into the camp from the windows.
Bouldering Wall + Bouldering Cave
Different from rock climbing, bouldering is a type of climbing where you move horizontally across the rock wall without being harnessed. The bouldering cave allows kids to climb around and practice different rock climbing holds freely, but each climber must wear a helmet. Bouldering is great for younger kids who might not be ready for harnessed rock climbing but want to test out their climbing skills. Assistants stand by, ready to catch or help each kid.
Makerspace + Discovery Room + Robotics and Drones
The Discovery Room and Makerspace is the place to learn about and try out different technology, including robots and drones. Kids and adults can fly drones or make robots move on command using a tablet, make robots move along a path using special markers, and lots more. The Discovery Room also includes space to try out 3D printing and laser-cutting, tinker with toys, and get hands on while learning about technology and science.
Badminton + Indoor Sports
The indoor badminton court allows families and friends to practice their racquet skills! Two nets are set up, allowing up to eight people to play at once. Hone your basketball shooting skills at the basketball shooting area, or play a game of cornhole or velcro darts.

Drop-ins are welcome at Lange Innovation Center, but the center can also be rented for groups, such as Scouts, clubs and schools. So, calling ahead and reserving a time is highly recommended, to ensure that the activities you’re looking forward to exploring will be available during your visit.
