2016 Broad Ripple Canal Duck Race

The Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA) is proud to announce the 3rd annual Broad Ripple Canal Duck Race will take place on Sunday, June 26 at 4:30 p.m. This year’s race will again team up with Kids Takeover Broad Ripple, an event that offers many children’s activities to enjoy before the race, including the Colts’ Museum, the Pacers’ Fan van, a girl’s glam station, a kid DJ and much more! Kids Takeover takes place at the Rainbow Bridge over the Central Canal at Guilford Avenue from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

About the Broad Ripple Canal Duck Race

At 4:30 p.m., over 1,500 rubber ducks will enter the water where the Monon trail crosses the Central Canal. The winning ducks will be plucked out of the water at the finish line, just west of the Rainbow Bridge. There will be plenty of prime viewing locations along the race route on either side of the canal for families to watch the race and cheer for their duck.
Ducks can be purchased for $5/duck or by the “paddling”, 6 ducks for $25. Ducks are available for purchase online at broadrippleduckrace.org or at the event prior to the race at the BRVA tent. After the race, contestants may pick up their rubber duck at the BRVA tent as a souvenir.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers. All prizes are gift cards from Broad Ripple merchants. The first place prize is valued at over $300.
The Duck Race is an event of the Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA). All proceeds from the Broad Ripple Canal Duck Race support the programs and projects of the BRVA, a 501c3 non-profit organization focused on enriching the community, attracting investment, amplifying public spaces, and improving the quality of life in Broad Ripple.
Gift card donors for the prize packages include 317 BurgerArtifactsAverage Joe’sbricsIndy CD and VinylRunners Forum, Sno Zone Snow Cones and Target.
