Where to Celebrate Hanukkah in Indianapolis

Hanukkah begins on December 22 this year, with celebrations through December 30.

While many will celebrate the Festival of Lights by lighting the menorah’s candles and spinning the dreidel with family and friends at home, there are plenty of ways to celebrate around Indianapolis as well. Attend any (or all!) of these public events before and during the holiday to enjoy Hanukkah to its fullest!

 

Home Depot Menorah Workshop

When: December 15, 1:00 – 3:00pm
Where: Home Depot, 9855 North Michigan Road, Carmel

Build your very own menorah! Get a workers apron and enjoy an afternoon of wood working and Chanukah treats with the whole family at this free event. Call 317-698-6724 or email [email protected] for more information.

Hanukkah Sip & Shop

When: December 18, 6:30 – 9:30pm
Where: 6501 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis

Bring your gal friends to this free event to de-stress before the holidays, sip, snack, schmooze and shop. This event is free, but kindly let us know that you are coming by following this ticket link by December 13 so we have enough refreshments.

Painting with a Twist: Hanukkah Sunset

When: December 18, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Where: 8804 N. Michigan Rd., Indianapolis

This event is open to painters 15 years or older! Flex those artistic skills and take home something you can be proud of. Register to paint either a lighted canvas or no-lights canvas.

Chanukah Playdate at Gymboree

When: December 22, 9:30 – 11:30am or 3:30 – 5:30pm
Where: Gymboree, 12524 N. Gray Road, Carmel

Get active and make a fun Hanukkah craft with friend’s age 0-5 years old at Gymboree in Carmel! Search for gelt, pretend to make latkes, visit the photo booth, enjoy a snack, and more! Cost is $14 for the first child, $6 for second, and so on. Please RSVP in advance by calling Gymboree at 317-574-9626. Don’t forget to wear socks!

Community Menorah Lighting & Chanukah Celebration and Dinner

When: December 22, 5:00 – 8:00pm (Menorah lighting, 5:00 – 6:00pm; Celebration and dinner, 6:00 – 8:00pm)
Where: Chabad Center for Jewish Life, 2640 West 96 Street, Indianapolis

Register today for the annual Chanukah Dinner and Celebration! This event fills up fast and we have a great time every year! This is a free event, although contributions are certainly welcome. Suggested contribution for adults is $18, and kids under 10 for $10. Or become a sponsor for $180. Please register for the dinner here by Friday, December 20.

Holiday Highlights at West Indianapolis: Hanukkah Celebration

When: December 23, 5:30 – 7:30pm
Where: Indianapolis Public Library, West Branch, 1216 Kappes St

In the spirit of the season, families and individuals of all ages are invited for special programs about the various holidays celebrated at this time of year. Each program will feature a guest speaker discussing the holiday, along with a craft for kids and food. And on December 23, join the West Indianapolis Branch for a Hanukkah celebration!

Chanukah Pizza and Pottery

When: December 28, 7:00pm
Where: Pottery by You, 2280 W 86th Street, Indianapolis

Throw some pottery and celebrate Chanukah with a little pizza (and friends!). Register for $5 here.
