The Weekend Top 5: IMA Family Day, Go Ape Kids Free Day and more

Hmmm weather gods: We’re sighting a few rain clouds on this weekend’s radar which doesn’t make us happy because… there’s lots going on around town and we’d rather enjoy some outdoor time. So we’ll cross our fingers and hope for some good patches because mini golf, Go Ape and more are calling our name.

Here’s a roundup of the top 5 events to check out this weekend…

It’s Family Day at the Indianapolis Museum of Art

October 1, 1-5pm

The IMA recently made a change to their ongoing Family Day series: Instead of hosting a monthly event, you’ll now find this family-fun-fest occurring every other first Saturday of the month. The October theme is “Harvest Festival,” packed with music, art making, yoga and fall food running from 1-5pm. Read about the IMA Family Day program here. While you’re at it, hit up the Mini Golf course. There isn’t much time left in the season to enjoy it!

Members at the Children’s Museum can sneak in a little early

October 1

True story: Members of the Children’s Museum get some of the best perks in town, including a whole hour to themselves on the first Saturday of the month. Ride the Carousel, scale the Rock Wall {a limited number of tickets available at 9am}, and beat the crowds. Doors open to members at 9am.

Go Ape is offering a Kids Free Day

Go Ape Kids Free _ Indy's Child

October 2

On Sunday, 10/2, two kids are entitled to ‘fly’ free with Go Ape located at Eagle Creek Park. While registration is required, at last check we did see some open spots so make sure to snag yours here. Read about Insider Trisha’s visit to Go Ape with her family.

Get your shop on with Reclaimed Threads

October 1-2

All right shopaholics: The bi-annual Matilda Jane and Boutique Consignment Event returns this weekend, just in time to stock up on kiddo clothing for fall photos. Times vary by day and we’ve learned the selection is tremendous. Go.
