Weekend top 5: Last chance for Nature Connects, Indians and more

There’s a slight nip in the air this morning as we turn the corner into September. Labor Day Weekend, we can’t believe you’re here but these cooler temps are reminding us it’s time to say goodbye to summer in style.

Here’s a roundup of the top 5 family-friendly events to check out this long Labor Day Weekend…

It’s the last chance to catch Nature Connects at the Indianapolis Zoo

Now-September 5

Nature Connects: Art with LEGO Bricks has been a staple of summer fun at the Indianapolis Zoo this year but in its final stretch -the last day it will be on display is Labor Day. The exhibit is free with general Zoo admission. Find numerous sculptures scattered throughout the White River Gardens created from LEGO bricks such as zebras, polar bears, butterflies and more. It’s worth a trip. Read more here.

Now-September 3

Say it ain’t so! The Indianapolis Indians close out their fun season this weekend facing the Louisville Bats at home. Last week’s rain delay means a double-header on September 1, and lots and lots of fireworks at both Friday and Saturday’s games. We recommend buying tickets online because they DO sell out for the final weekend.

Have a final hurrah at the splash pad

Now-September 5

True story: When Labor Day is gone, so are the local splash pads. Grab the fam, some swimsuits and sunscreen, and get your last splashes in this weekend. Here’s a guide to all the Indy-area splash pads to help you find your favorite.

Of course, that’s not all that’s on tap for the weekend. Discover the rest at the Indy’s Child Calendar of Events!
