What makes The Oaks Academy unique?

The Oaks Academy is unique in its approach to providing a rigorous classical education in a Christ-centered environment where relationships come first. Our students and families enjoy a strong school community that is both racially and socioeconomically diverse. In addition, our classrooms are carefully designed to nurture academic excellence, authentic learning, and a love of beauty and nature. At The Oaks Academy, we prepare students to succeed in high school, college, and beyond by helping them develop perseverance, as well as spiritual, social, and emotional maturity.

What is The Oaks Academy’s age/grade range?

The Oaks Academy serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Students must be 4 years old by August 1 of the year they start school.

What is your enrollment policy? Are there any key dates parents should be aware of?

The Oaks Academy utilizes a formal application process for admissions decisions and grade-level placement. Lower School Applicants are asked to provide current grades, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations. Early Education Applicants (K – 1st Grade) complete an assessment with our Early Childhood Education Director and teachers. Our Early Decision Deadline is December 1 and our Regular Decision Deadline is February 1.

Prospective parents can see our classes in action during our virtual Parent Preview Morning on October 27, November 17, 2020, or January 12, 2021. Do you offer financial assistance?

Oaks Academy offers financial aid to all who qualify. Awards are based on family size and income and approximately 80% of our students receive some financial aid. Early Decision Applicants must submit a financial aid application by the December 1 Early Decision Deadline. Please visit www.theoaksacademy.org/tuition to learn more and apply.

What are the standard school day hours?

School hours at our Fall Creek and Brookside locations are from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Our Middle School hours are from 8:15 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.

Does The Oaks Academy offer before/after school care? Does The Oaks Academy offer afterschool activities?

The Oaks Academy offers before and after school care at all 3 locations through our Oaks Plus program starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. After school, students can participate in a variety of clubs and activities including Speech and Debate and Robotics. Students in grades 5 – 8 can also participate in our athletic program.

Is there a uniform or dress code?

Oaks Academy students wear a dress uniform on formal days and a casual uniform every other day. Dress uniform items may be purchased at Schoolbelles.

How many children attend The Oaks Academy? How many students are in the average classroom?

The Oaks Academy has 1043 students with 18 students in each classroom.

Does The Oaks Academy have a homework policy?

Homework is assigned nightly Monday through Thursday.

Does The Oaks Academy offer support for students with special needs?

The Oaks Academy complies with all Title I requirements and offers small groups and pull-outs for students with diagnosed learning needs.

What specialty classes / extracurricular activities does The Oaks Academy offer (gym, art, language, sports etc.)?

In addition to our courses in science, writing, mathematics, and humanities, The Oaks Academy offers courses in physical education, art, music, and library to all lower school students. Middle school students also enjoy courses in logic, technology, Spanish, and Latin and have the option of choosing a Fine Arts Major in choir, band, orchestra, or visual art. Our athletics program is available to 5th through 8th-grade students and includes soccer, track, cross country, basketball, and volleyball (girls).

What are The Oaks Academy’s safety policies?

The Oaks Academy utilizes a security system and safety officer at each location. Middle school students also have identification cards.

What extra safety measures is The Oaks Academy taking during the COVID-19 pandemic?

At The Oaks Academy, we strive to follow all recommendations of the Marion County Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including the use of masks for all students, teachers, and staff members and social distancing of desks and other classroom seating. In addition, we have installed new hand sanitizing stations throughout all 3 buildings and teachers lead students in handwashing and sanitizing several times throughout the day. Frequent cleaning of all high traffic and high touch areas during each school day has also been added as well as air sanitation.
