The Little Village Playroom

The Little Village Playroom wants to be the spot where parents and caregivers with young children can relax, meet up with other parents, or get some work done — all while their children play. Opening January 21, this new play place in Carmel has lots of interactive areas for kids to explore and use their imaginations.

The playhouses — a vet clinic (pictured here) and a market — were built by the father of The Little Village Playroom owner Amy Sample.

In the playroom, kids will find two playhouses (a fresh market and a vet clinic) that are centered in the bright, light-filled play space. There is also a play kitchen, blocks, a reading area with lots of picture books, a puppet theatre, a train table and more.

Kids can pretend to shop at the little playhouse market.

The activity room — which is connected to the playroom with viewing windows and allows visitors full view of the play areas — is where kids can get messy and loud as they participate in fun arts and crafts projects. The Little Village Playroom will also have scheduled activities throughout the week, including dance parties, story times, kids’ yoga and live music.

Puppet show!

For adults, The Little Village Playroom offers perks, such as free Wi-Fi, free coffee and a take one/leave one adult library.

Cozy reading nook

“We want to be a place where caregivers can relax and take a step back for a minute,” says Amy Sample, founder and creative director of The Little Village Playroom. She created the play place for people like her:  parents who are trying to juggle it all while also needing a place to take their kids to burn off some energy.

Pretend kitchen for more cooking fun.

Caregivers can drop in to play Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. But on the weekends, The Little Village Playroom turns into a full-service spot for birthday parties. “Our birthday parties are private events — the space is all about the birthday kid,” Sample says. Guests can also rent out the play space for baby showers, mom-to-be parties and more.

Lots of toys for creative, open-ended play.

The staff at The Little Village Playroom will work with parents to personalize their kids’ parties, as well. “Themed banners, cakes, food, invitations, thank-you cards … we can do all the planning, executing, setup, tear down and clean up,” Sample says.
