GetGo Café and Market (known as “GetGo”), Indiana’s source for fresh, made-to-order food and beverages, is calling all Hoosiers to help attempt a Guinness World Records™ title for “Most People Making Sandwiches Simultaneously.” The previous record was set in 2016 by mobile app TangoTab when 2,586 people came together to break the record in Dallas, Texas. On Tuesday, July 16, GetGo will host “Make It to Break It,” bringing together thousands of volunteers from across Indiana to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime, history-making event on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts! All sandwiches made at the event will be donated to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. “Giant Eagle has been an extraordinary corporate partner for Gleaners over the years, providing food donations, financial support for our fleet of trucks, and more,” said John Elliott, President/CEO of Gleaners Food Bank. “We’re so pleased that GetGo is expanding its footprint in Indiana and look forward to growing our partnership with them in years to go.” The “Make It to Break It” event is an opportunity for GetGo to celebrate its recent expansion with Hoosiers. In late 2018, GetGo acquired 56 Ricker’s convenience stores located in the Indianapolis and Fort Wayne metro areas and throughout Central Indiana. Since then, the company has been hard at work remodeling all sites to deliver the best of what GetGo and Ricker’s have to offer. “It’s been such an honor to become a part of the Indianapolis community since opening our first GetGo location in 2015,” said Dan Donovan, GetGo spokesperson. “Now, as we expand our footprint across the state, we are excited to bring Hoosiers together to break a world record and have a lot of fun doing it." Adam Richman, TV personality, culinary traveler, cook and author, is the official “Make It to Break It” event celebrity ambassador and will be at the record attempt to mingle with volunteers. Though he is most widely known as the host of Travel Channel’s “Man V. Food,” Richman's résumé has since expanded to include host and co-executive producer of five titles across Travel Channel (“Man V. Food Nation,” “Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America,” “Fandemonium,” “Carnivore Chronicles” and “Secret Eats”) and host of NBC’s “Food Fighters.” In addition to the record attempt, participants can celebrate with Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders and Blue the Mascot and explore the Colts' new traveling 40-foot-long museum full of interactive Colts experiences, history and memorabilia, including state of the art virtual reality, interactive games and photo opportunities. Other activities include live music, tailgating games, giveaways and more. The event is free to attend, and everyone who participates will be part of an Official Guinness World Records attempt and receive a commemorative t-shirt. Randomly selected participants will receive free sandwiches for a year. Event Details: Tuesday, July 16, 2019 Arrive between Noon-12:30 p.m. Doors close promptly at 1:15 p.m. Guinness World Records event takes place at approximately 1:30 p.m. The event concludes at approximately 2:30 p.m. Registration for the event is encouraged. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants cannot wear open-toed shoes.
