Leonard Park

Located a few blocks from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway sits Leonard Park, a fun neighborhood park located in the town of Speedway on Indy's west side. Encompassing 14 acres of green open spaces, this park also boasts a modern playground, two baseball diamonds, two covered pavilions, two lighted tennis courts, a volleyball court, a covered sandbox and paved walking trails. Leonard Park Playground The playground at Leonard Park was completely remodeled in 2010, and now has lots of modern features that appeal to all ages. For the bigger kids, there is a large ropes structure and parkour area for kids who like to climb. Climbers will also love the big rope tower that sits in the middle of the playground, which gives kids a chance to burn off energy by making their way up the ropes. Younger kids will enjoy the smaller play structure that's built for ages 2-5, and includes a small slide, a bridge and a saucer bouncer. Toddler playground at Leonard Park in Speedway All ages will enjoy the swings, chairs that kids can spin around on, and the Little Free Library that's at the front of the park. In the middle of the playground is a concrete courtyard with benches and shade. The playground is lined with a soft, rubberized ground that allows for cushioned landings. Sports and Amenities at Leonard Park Leonard Park has a huge section of the park designated just for playing horseshoe, with 8 clay horseshoe pits in a fenced area. The park also has two baseball and softball diamonds, two full-size tennis courts with lights until 10:30 p.m. and a regulation-sized volleyball court. Horseshoe courts at Leonard Park in Speedway A paved walking path surrounds the park, leading walkers around for approximately half a mile. And if you need to make a quick pit stop? The public restrooms are open from April through October. For those looking for a place to grill, the park has two picnic shelters that you can rent, that include large charcoal grills and power outlets. Because Leonard Park is located in a neighborhood, there isn't a designated parking lot for this park, so parking is on the street.
