On November 12, The Lantern Fest will stop in Indianapolis for the first time. Event organizers expect thousands to join together at New Castle Motorsports Park to celebrate life and make memories. “Indianapolis is an exciting addition to our 2016 schedule,” said Lantern Fest event director Spencer Humiston. “The event is unifying and one of the most stunning things I have ever seen. Hoosiers will love it!” When gates open at 2pm, families can settle in to roast s’mores, decorate their lanterns, and enjoy entertainment, including: a stage show, face painters, princesses, inflatables and live music. After sunset, participants will come together to release their lanterns, painting the sky gold with their hopes and dreams. MORE FALL FUN: 50 Fall bucket list ideas, a full list of fabulous activities for families to enjoy in Indianapolis this Fall Historically, Chinese Lanterns have been used to symbolize good fortune, request favorable weather, and celebrate the lives of loved ones. In 2015, The Lantern Fest introduced this ancient tradition to the US. Featuring food, music, s’mores, and children’s entertainment, when the sun goes down, lanterns light the sky in one spectacular release. “This event is unique because it appeals to people of all ages,” said Lantern Fest spokeswoman Amy Gessel. “It is not often that an event encourages participation from the youngest children to senior citizens and everyone in between. It means something different to each participant but can be enjoyed by all.” MORE INFO: Lantern Passes can be purchased online and are required for admission to the event. Tickets begin at $30/adults, $7 for kids ages 4-12 and FREE for children ages 3 and under. Each pass comes with a lantern, marker, s’mores kit, and lighter. Tickets are available here.
