As kids head back to school and Indianapolis-area pools close for the season, a few local aquatic centers hand the water over to a different group of swimmers. Dog swim days give pups a chance to splash around after the regular pool season ends. Below are the dog swim days near Indianapolis with 2026 details announced so far, plus a few annual events that have not posted their 2026 dates yet. Note: Many dog swim events require current vaccination records, advance registration or both. Check the event rules before heading out. Dog Swim Days Near Indianapolis 2026 Doggie Pool Day at Franklin Family Aquatic Center When: Sept. 2, 2026, 5–7:15 p.m. Address: Franklin Family Aquatic Center, 390 Branigin Blvd., Franklin Small dogs under 25 pounds: 5–6 p.m. Big dogs 25 pounds and larger: 6:15–7:15 p.m. Franklin Family Aquatic Center opens its zero-depth pool to dogs for an end-of-summer swim. Registration is required, and owners need to show proof of current vaccination records at the Cultural Arts & Recreation Center before entering the aquatic center. Only the zero-depth pool will be open for the event. Fishers YMCA Doggie Dip When: Sept. 10–12, 2026 Address: Fishers YMCA, 9012 E. 126th St., Fishers Cost: $15 per dog Thursday, Sept. 10 Small dogs: 5:30–6:30 p.m. Medium and large dogs: 6:45–7:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 Small dogs: 5:30–6:30 p.m. Medium and large dogs: 6:45–7:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 Small dogs: 10–11 a.m. and 12:30–1:30 p.m. Medium and large dogs: 11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m. and 1:45–2:45 p.m. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Bring current vaccination records and plan to sign a waiver at check-in. Dogs may be off-leash inside the pool area but must keep their collars on, and owners must stay with their pets. Doggie Dip at Murphy Aquatic Park When: Sept. 12, 2026, 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Address: Murphy Aquatic Park, 753 S. CR 625 East, Avon Cost: $12 per dog Dogs get the run of Murphy Aquatic Park's wave pool during this end-of-season swim. Pre-registration is encouraged, and owners must show proof of current parvo, distemper and rabies vaccinations. Dogs must be spayed or neutered and kept on a leash when they're not in the water. Humans aren't allowed to swim with their dogs, and there will be no lifeguards on duty. Puppy POOLooza When: Sept. 12, 2026, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Address: Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, 850 W. Stop 18 Rd., Greenwood Small dogs under 30 pounds: 10–11 a.m. All dogs: 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. All dogs: 1–2 p.m. Pre-registration is required, and each session is limited to 75 dogs. Dogs must be at least 6 months old, spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. One dog is allowed per handler, and dogs must remain leashed whenever they're out of the water. Humans aren't allowed in the pool. Not Yet Confirmed for 2026 The events below have been held in previous years, but 2026 details have not yet been posted by the organizers. Puppy Pool Party Address: Splash Island, 651 Vestal Road, Plainfield Official 2026 event details have not yet been posted by Plainfield Parks and Recreation. Hendricks Regional Health YMCA Doggie Dip Address: Hendricks Regional Health YMCA, 301 Satori Parkway, Avon 2026 information has not been released yet. We will update as soon as it is announced. JCC Indianapolis Doggie Dip Address: Eskenazi Water Park at the JCC, 6701 Hoover Road, Indianapolis 2026 information has not been released yet. We will update as soon as it is announced. Upcoming Dog Swim Days Dog Swim Days Already Held in 2026 These dog swim events took place earlier this season. Pooches in the Pool When: Aug. 16, 2026, 5–7 p.m. Address: Kokomo Beach, 802 W. Park Ave., Kokomo Cost: $5 per dog Kokomo Beach opened its leisure pool to dogs for an evening swim after the regular pool season. The event allowed one dog per person, with dogs permitted off-leash inside the Kokomo Beach gates. Doggie Day at Meridian Park Pool When: Aug. 9, 2026 Address: Meridian Park Family Aquatic Center, 101 McKinley St., Shelbyville Cost: $10 per dog, cash only; humans free Small dogs under 30 pounds: 1–2:15 p.m. Large dogs over 30 pounds: 2:15–3:30 p.m. Proceeds from Doggie Day went to the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter.
