Indianapolis, IN — Divorce can leave children and parents feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure of how to move forward. For over 16 years, New Day has provided a place of hope, healing, and connection for families navigating the pain of separation. One parent reflected, “I don’t think I could have afforded counseling. I was bleeding from attorney fees, daycare, and the cost of becoming a single-income family. I can’t imagine how much we got out of something that cost us so little. It was such a benefit, we just knew we needed to be here.” Children share similar stories of impact. One participant explained, “From attending New Day from age 5 to 12, it became a big part of who I am. It made me feel less alone, because I didn’t know anyone else with divorced parents until I came here.” Another recalled, “New Day taught me conversations I never thought to have, like what it’s like to have two Christmases. We still have the ornaments we made here. It showed us we weren’t the only ones.” What is New Day? New Day is a free, directional support program for children and families of divorce. Groups are available for children ages 3 years through 8th grade (with support available if you have younger children). The program meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings, October through May, at CenterPoint Counseling, Second Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Families share dinner at 6:00 pm, then break into age-appropriate groups led by trained volunteer facilitators. Each evening closes at 7:45 pm. Because every divorce journey looks different, New Day is open-ended. Families may attend for as long as it is helpful and can re-enter the program at any stage of the divorce process. Why Families Choose New Day Every divorce story is unique. Children, parents, and caregivers all experience it differently. New Day creates a safe environment where families discover they are not alone and can begin to heal together. At New Day, participants find: A welcoming community that understands the challenges of divorce Safe, age-appropriate groups for children to express feelings and build resilience Separate groups for parents to learn healthy co-parenting strategies Volunteer facilitators who are specially trained to walk with families through grief and change Since 2004, hundreds of families have participated in New Day, supported by more than 170 trained volunteers who give their time and care. Families consistently report that New Day helps children feel seen, valued and hopeful. How to Get Started Fill out the application at New Day Enrollment. After you apply, CenterPoint Counseling will contact you to schedule a brief intake. Once the intake is complete, you’ll receive a start date for your family. Both parents are invited to attend if they can participate respectfully. Parents join separate adult groups and complete individual intake interviews before attending program nights.
