Shawn Grove Park is located in a historic area of the Old Northside of Indianapolis. The park includes two playgrounds designed for toddlers and older children. This neighborhood park, situated on a tree-lined area of North Alabama Street, is a great place for families to play, meet up and hang out together.
Shawn Grove Park Toddler Playground
The toddler playground is great for young children, especially for kids who like to run or wander off. This is because the toddler playground has a fence all around it with a latch on the gate to keep toddlers contained. In this area, you’ll find toddler swings, a little playground structure with tunnels to climb through, slides, and a riding toy.
Playground for Older Kids
The playground for older kids is located in an area of the park with lots of mature trees, so there is plenty of shade all around. The big-kid playground includes a tall playground structure with slides (including a triple slide), monkey bars, a firefighter pole, and bridges.
Mosaic Rubber Mulch at Shawn Grove Park
Both playgrounds are covered with soft and squishy pieces of recycled rubber mulch, which allow for safe landings and easy footing. The rubber on the playground is a mosaic of different materials, and kids can have fun just walking around and finding their favorite pieces. There are even pieces of rubber mulch with tiny rhinestones on them! Visitors will have lots of fun exploring Shawn Grove Park from the ground up — literally.
Community Outdoor Spaces
There are lots of spaces at the park for the community to gather. Off to one side of Shawn Grove Park is a covered shelter with picnic benches and a grill. Visitors will also find a Little Free Library that was built from an old newspaper vending machine. Books and DVDs are inside. All around the park are benches to sit and enjoy being in nature in the middle of the city.

Shawn Grove Park is located at 1401 N Alabama St, Indianapolis. Parking is located on the street. There are no restroom facilities at this park, but there is a water fountain. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
