As Christmas sneaks upon us, I’m trying to be a tad more prepared than years previous. A few weeks ago, I made my list, checked it twice and started to look for a photographer to capture the perfect image for this year’s Christmas card. And lo and behold, right as the thought entered my mind, I found out I won a photography mini session from local Indianapolis photographer, Laura Lilly Photography. Talk about good timing!
If we’re being honest, most guys aren’t thrilled when their wife tells them they’re going to get their picture taken. Thankfully, my hubby Mike was a trooper and agreed to go along with my coordinated outfit plan, all in good taste of course. The fact that we won the mini session made him even happier. I had saved the man some money!
We met the oh so sweet and talented Laura Duprey, owner of Laura Lilly Photography at West Park in Carmel on a beautiful fall night. I had only one special request for the evening: that our dog, Sadie could be in the pictures too. This sounds pretty simple, but I can assure you it’s not. Sadie is our 70 pound, sweet but crazy Weimaraner. She’s a handful. But there was no reason to fear, Laura brought her dog whispering husband, Kevin along for the shoot. The man has a gift. Kevin worked his magic and got Sadie to look at the camera for pictures, walked her while she wasn’t in the shots and managed to keep her happy and under control. By the end of the evening I was ready to hire him to be our new dog sitter!
After the mini session ended and we jumped in our cars to leave, I knew we not only captured some great pictures for our Christmas card but that we made new friends as well. Laura’s charming work is now framed throughout my house, including a blown up picture of our sweet and crazy Sadie.
