Out and About: Carmel, IN

Fridays are my favorite day of the week. Why? It’s date night! My husband, Mike and I are “foodies” at heart and enjoy good food and great atmospheres to indulge in our cravings. After seeing a re-run of Guy Fieri’s Diner’s, Drive-Ins and Dives featuring Jersey’s Cafe in Carmel, we knew our next date needed to be at the Midwest land of hoagies and rippers.

Known for their authentic, made from scratch East Coast fare, Jersey’s Cafe is nestled right off of Old Meridian and 136th street in Carmel. Warm and welcoming, the restaurant is filled with soul and decked to the nines with memorabilia all centered around Jersey love. Owner and Chef, Blair Laing takes pride in bringing a true taste of Jersey to the Midwest. “I wanted Jersey’s to be the kind of place that all Jerseyites, Philadelphians, and New Yorkers, that now live here, could call home. A place to come and get a pound of cold cuts to a steaming and bubbling hot cheese steak. A place to bring your family visiting from Jersey or Philly and have them go home and tell their friends about the greatest East Coast restaurant in the middle of the Midwest,” said Laing.

While I’ve never been to New Jersey myself, Chef Laing’s delicious food sure made me want to book my next trip! Mike and I ordered what the ultimate foodie, Guy Fieri ordered from the menu himself. We kicked off the evening with Jersey’s Famous Loaded Potato Chips- homemade chips loaded with melted cheddar, Monterey cheese, honey sweet barbecue sauce, crisp bacon, green onions and served with a side of buttermilk ranch dressing. Talk about a tease to your taste buds! We then indulged in the Wildwood Cheese Steak and Chicken Salad Club. I’m not lying when I say this was the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. Take my word for it, it is mouth watering!

I’m pretty sure Chef Laing knows his food is quite delicious as well. “Our food is unique and we know it. We always make sure we keep it Jersey,” said Laing.

Enjoy a little “staycation” and grab some authentic East Coast fare right here in Carmel at Jersey’s Cafe. Mike and I are sure to be back soon!
