I’m not going to lie, even though it’s only been open for a couple of weeks, I’ve already been to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis three times.
The first time I went with my wife for the After Dark, adults only, premiere of the exhibit. It was a blast being at the Museum without our kids (don’t tell them I said that), my wife and I were able to act like kids ourselves.
Once we entered the exhibit and made our way past larger than life statues of Donatello, Michalengelo, Rafael and fourth one that I can never remember his name, we went straight for the pizza shooter. When presented with the opportunity to shoot pizzas out of a cannon, I highly suggest you give it a try. After firing off a few dozen rounds, it was time to give someone else a turn.
Next, I decided to show off my not-so-awesome ninja moves, while trying to avoid the “laser beams.” Luckily the lasers were actually bungee cords, because at one point I touched every single one of them, at the same time.
After my ninja debacle, we sat down at a game called Make the Pizza, which ended up being our competitive highlight of the night. The game gives you thirty seconds to top the pizza, touching, in my case smashing, the buttons that randomly light up as fast and accurately as you can. The person with the most at the end of thirty seconds wins. The most I could get was 74, and my wife whooped me with a score of 84 (Or maybe I let her win just to be nice?!?).
The two other times I’ve been to the exhibit, it’s been with my kids. They love all the same things my wife and I did while we were there (at least I was able to beat them at Make the Pizza), but they also found much more to do. There were teamwork video games, where they played the role of one of the turtles, puzzle games, a periscope, sewer pipe building, a play area to climb all over, and so much more.
The next time we all go back, I’m sure my kids will still find things at the exhibit they haven’t done before. Don’t miss the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and while you’re there take a turn (or 20) at the Make the Pizza game.
