Movies at Midtown is back for another season of free outdoor movies in the heart of Carmel Plaza. The main lineup runs June through September, with bonus screenings on May 10 and October 31 to kick off and close out the season. Outdoor movies are shown every Tuesday at 6 PM and every Thursday at 12 PM and 6 PM, making it easy to fit a family-friendly film night into your week. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs, blankets, and a picnic—and adults can enjoy a beverage from Sun King Brewery while they relax and watch the show.
Personally, this is one of my family’s favorite summer traditions. We love to grab dinner from Sun King Spirits and eat it picnic-style on the lawn while the movie plays. Sometimes we bring our own chairs and blankets, but we’ve also had luck snagging one of the comfy couches or tables around the plaza—if you get there early enough. Either way, it’s smart to have a backup plan for seating.

Our kids can never resist the splash pad, which is in full view from the lawn, so we always pack an extra change of clothes. It’s such an easy, low-key way to spend a summer night where everyone leaves happy—no tickets, no fuss, just good vibes and great movies.
