At Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool, we take Jesus’ words to heart: “Let the little children come to me” (Matthew 19:14). As a ministry of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, we believe every child is a precious gift from God and deserves to be nurtured with love, faith, and encouragement. Working together with families, we can teach children about God’s love and the world He created, impart academic knowledge, and nurture their social-emotional development—all of which lay a strong foundation for both their hearts and minds.

Q&A with Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool:
What makes Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool unique?
Here at LTOB Preschool, children hear God’s Word through daily Bible lessons and prayers and are surrounded by caring Christian teachers, who model His love in all they do. Our research-based, play-centered curriculum helps children grow academically, socially, and spiritually—because we know young children thrive when they’re having fun and have strong relationships with their caregivers. Families also appreciate our flexible scheduling options, which include both full- and half-day programs, as well as ample outdoor time built into each day. We work to create a joyful, nurturing environment where children’s unique learning styles are celebrated and where children can explore, learn, and grow in God’s love.

What is Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool’s educational philosophy?
We believe young children learn best through play and we offer a balance of individual and group activities where children feel free to explore, discover, and grow while feeling secure and loved.
We are a play-based preschool. We follow the HighScope Curriculum, a research-based approach to early childhood education that helps children develop confidence and independence as learners. Through hands-on experiences and active play, children make choices, solve problems, and explore their world. Adults in our program play alongside children, actively supporting and extending children’s play.

What is Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool’s age/grade range?
Our students range from 3-5 years old.
What is your enrollment policy? Are there any key dates parents should be aware of?
We enroll students as they turn 3 years old and are potty-trained.
What are the standard school day hours? Does Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool offer flexible day/hour options? Is before/after school care available?
We offer flexible preschool options to fit your family’s needs! You can choose either a 3-day or 5-day program, with the choice of morning-only or full-day sessions.
Morning-only: 8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Full-day: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
No matter which option you choose, your child will enjoy a loving, faith-filled environment full of learning and play.

How many children are in each class? How are children divided up up?
We have children who range in age from 3 – 5 mixed into one classroom. This is intentional and beneficial to your child, whether they are 3, 4, or 5.
Our ‘mixed age approach’ encourages a natural, family-like environment where younger children learn from older peers, and older children develop confidence and leadership skills by helping their younger friends.
Additionally, mixed-age learning supports social growth, empathy, and cooperation, skills that we know are just as important as early academics. A mixed-age approach also enables every child to grow at their own pace, while feeling valued and capable, regardless of their age or stage of development.
What is the teacher/child ratio?
Our preschool classes have a ratio of 1 teacher to 10 children.

What are the teacher’s credentials?
Our lead teacher holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She brings both expertise and a genuine love for nurturing young learners.
Our dedicated support staff and classroom aides share that same passion for children and learning, and each is trained in safety procedures and first aid, ensuring a caring and secure environment for every child.
Is parental participation required?
Our preschool is a place where children can grow in their faith, curiosity, and confidence, while parents feel supported and valued in the important work of raising their child. Parent participation is not required, but we enjoy partnering with parents in learning and supporting their child.
How do teachers communicate with parents? How often do parents receive updates?
Teachers use the app Brightwheel for daily communication with parents, as well as a weekly newsletter. Through this app, we send pictures and videos of your child learning and growing at our school. We believe that open communication with parents, students, and teachers is important!
How much time do the children spend outside?
We believe that children need daily outside time to learn, grow, and develop, and so we spend at least 45 minutes outside each day.

Are meals and/or snacks provided?
No. All meals and snacks are provided by parents, which allows families to choose foods their child enjoys and that meet their individual dietary needs.
Does my child need to be potty-trained?
Yes, all students must be reliably potty-trained.
What are Little Town of Bethlehem Preschool’s safety policies?
Your child’s safety is a top concern for us. The building remains locked from drop-off until pickup. All teachers and volunteers are required to have a completed background check on file.
