Lawrence North High School

Lawrence North is a public high school in the MSD of Lawrence Township serving approximately 3,000 students in northeast Indianapolis. At Lawrence North:

Lawrence North High School serves students in grades nine through twelve.

Enrollment is open at Lawrence North High School and the school serves approximately 3,000 students.

School hours are 8:50 AM - 3:40 PM.

Lawrence North High School boasts robust extracurricular opportunities available to all students. Lawrence North offers participation in all IHSAA sanctioned sports and some additional club sports, including Lacrosse and swimming. Lawrence North has a nationally ranked marching band in our Marching Pride of Lawrence Township as well as numerous choral, orchestral, dance, and other performing art ensembles/teams. Through these extracurricular activities students gain valuable experience that they carry with them through high school, college, and beyond.

In addition to our award-winning performing arts and athletics programs, Lawrence North offers numerous opportunities for students to be involved in the school community. Through the student council, Best Buddies, Key Club, LN Dance Marathon, and other clubs, students gain experience by participating in and leading different student organizations.

Students at Lawrence North High School do not wear a uniform.

Enrollment at Lawrence North High School is approximately 2,500 students. Class sizes vary depending on course type and subject matter.

Lawrence North High School aims to keep class sizes low by offering a variety of course options at both the Lawrence Central and Lawrence North campuses, as well as great opportunities for career and technical education through the McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology.

Lawrence North High School has a comprehensive program for exceptional learners. Programming promotes the integration of students with disabilities into the district initiatives of the project approach, response to instruction and cultural competency. Every student has accessible schools, educational supports and services including assistive technology to enable the students, their parents and staff to become positive advocates in developing an appropriate educational plan.

Available to all students at Lawrence North High School, the McKenzie Center for Innovation & Technology (MCIT) offers electives featuring state-of-the-art equipment and materials in the classrooms and labs. Offering 23 national certifications, MCIT embraces rigorous academic programs and diverse technological career courses, which prepare its college and career-bound students for post-secondary education, military service, workplace entry, or advanced technical training in a variety of business, medical, and industrial fields. Recognized as a “Best Community for Music Education,” by the National Association of Music Merchants for 13 consecutive years, Lawrence North is a known leader in performing arts education. Emphasizing performing arts education from an early age and culminating with the award-winning Marching Pride of Lawrence Township, show choirs, orchestras, concert bands, drum lines, dance groups, and theater, Lawrence North High School performing arts boast a reputable staff, exemplary programming, and first class facilities.

A winning tradition in athletics is evident at Lawrence North High School. Offering 21 varsity sports with state and national titles, student athletes strive not only to win, but to play with integrity and sportsmanlike conduct, regardless of score.

At Lawrence North High School, keeping students safe is the top priority. During school hours, external doors remain locked and security personnel are stationed at building entrances. Lawrence North requires that students carry a school ID and submit to metal detection by full time security officers stationed at the building upon entry as a proactive and precautionary measure.

Homework is subject matter dependent, and is generally consistent across a curricular department. Students should expect to be assigned homework. Many students build in a study hall period to allow time for additional support or homework completion.
