Worth the Drive: Harvest Tyme Fall Festival and Pumpkin Glow Trail

A fall farm outing can end with a walk past glowing jack-o’-lanterns at Harvest Tyme Family Farm in Lowell. About a two-hour drive northwest of Indianapolis, the farm combines its Fall Festival with a nighttime Pumpkin Glow Trail. Families can spend the afternoon riding a roller coaster, exploring corn mazes and picking pumpkins, then stay for a half-mile trail of Halloween lights.

Both run Sept. 19 through Oct. 25, 2026, with the Fall Festival on Saturdays and Sundays and Pumpkin Glow on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. For families making the trip from Indy, a Saturday or Sunday makes the most sense. Every Fall Festival ticket includes that evening’s Pumpkin Glow.

Harvest Tyme adds amusement rides to the usual pumpkin-patch outing. The Miner Mike Coaster, Tilt A Whirl, carousel and Pirate Revenge are among the rides included with admission, which covers unlimited amusement rides. Check with the farm about ride height requirements before purchasing tickets for younger children.

There’s a family corn maze plus a smaller connected maze for kids who want a shorter challenge. The farm describes the kiddie maze as suitable for school-aged children, with parents welcome to join. Hayrides and pumpkin-patch entry are included, too, though pumpkins cost extra.

Between rides, families can visit the petting zoo, watch pig races or play oversized versions of Connect 4 and Guess Who. Giant 3D pin art walls and a jumping pillow add more hands-on play.

The evening attraction is a half-mile walking trail lined with illuminated pumpkins and large light displays. According to Harvest Tyme, the experience uses more than 1 million LED bulbs and features more than 1,000 characters.

Among the specialty hand-carved jack-o’-lanterns are designs inspired by Disney characters, superheroes and Nickelodeon favorites, alongside traditional Halloween figures. The farm describes the trail as a not-so-spooky experience for all ages, making it an option for families interested in Halloween scenery without planning a haunted attraction visit.

Make it an afternoon-to-evening trip

Start with the hayride, pumpkin patch and mazes, which close at 6 p.m. Amusement rides run until 8 p.m., leaving time to fit in the Glow Trail before the farm closes at 9 p.m.

A meal break can fit between the daytime activities and lights. The farm’s concessions include pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken tenders and loaded baked potatoes, plus donuts and apple cider slushies. Only select concession stands operate during Pumpkin Glow. Families may also bring their own food and nonalcoholic drinks.

Food stands and attractions are card-only. Cash is accepted at the admissions booth and souvenir tent, where guests can buy a Harvest Tyme gift card to use elsewhere on the farm.

Watch the time zone: Lowell is on Central time, one hour behind Indianapolis. A 9 p.m. departure is already 10 p.m. on an Indy clock, before the drive home. Families with younger children may want to see the lights near the beginning of the evening.
