Smashin’ Pumpkins, Zionsville Parks and Recreation’s annual Pumpkin Smash and Compost Bash at Mulberry Fields, keeps carved pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns out of landfills by smashing and composting them into nutrient-rich soil. Families can bring their own pumpkins or get one for a $2 donation while supplies last.
Highlights include the Smashin’ Station, an epic pumpkin drop from the Zionsville Fire Department’s ladder truck, composting education and demonstrations, food trucks and games. Families should review the parks department’s composting guidelines before arriving.
