Chuck E. Cheese in North Indianapolis opens two hours early on the first Sunday of each month for Sensory Sensitive Sundays, with dimmed lights, reduced sound, no flashing effects and a calmer game room and dining area. The program is designed for children with autism, sensory processing disorder, ADHD or other special needs and their families, and any family who prefers a quieter environment is welcome.
No reservation is required. Team members are trained to offer patient, flexible support, character visits are optional, and parents and caregivers stay with their children the entire time. The Oct. 25 session is a Sensory Sensitive Halloween, with costumes, candy, games and characters in the same low-key setting.
