Event Details

Celebrate the legacy of James Whitcomb Riley, the Hoosier Poet, at the James Whitcomb Riley Festival, one of Indiana’s largest craft festivals. This vibrant event honors the birth of James Whitcomb Riley and offers a wide array of activities for all ages, including kids’ activities, food, flea market booths, fine arts, decorated pumpkins, and a lively parade.

With over 460 exhibitors set up around the 100-year-old courthouse, the festival takes place annually on the first Thursday of October in the charming downtown area of Greenfield, Indiana. Residents from Greenfield, Hancock County, and surrounding areas come together to honor the memory of their native son. Each year, a poem by Mr. Riley is chosen as the festival’s theme, with “Nine Little Goblins” as the selected theme for 2023. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of the James Whitcomb Riley Festival!
