Hoosier Valley Railroad Pumpkin Train

Climb aboard for a festive fall tradition in North Judson, Indiana! The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum offers a delightful train ride through the rural countryside, culminating in a visit to a pumpkin patch where children can pick their perfect pumpkin. With multiple train experiences available, there’s a perfect option for every family.

Train Ride Options

• The Diesel Pumpkin Train: This is the signature journey. Passengers enjoy a leisurely 45-minute, 10-mile round-trip ride. The highlight is the scenic crossing of the Kankakee River at English Lake, offering beautiful views of autumn foliage. Seating is available in classic Coach, open-air cars, or upgraded First Class.
• The Steam Pumpkin Train: For the classic train enthusiast, this ride is powered by a historical steam locomotive! It’s a shorter, 25-minute trip that takes you directly to the fun and games at the pumpkin patch. Please be aware that steam locomotives can be dirty, so dress accordingly!
• The Twilight Pumpkin Train: Experience the magic of the pumpkin patch at dusk! This special diesel-powered train leaves as the sun sets and returns in the dark. To make the evening even more memorable, an exciting animal show is included for all passengers prior to departure.

The Pumpkin Patch Experience

After your train ride, both steam and diesel trains will drop you off at the pumpkin patch. Every child ticket holder (ages 3-15) gets to choose one regular-sized pumpkin to take home, included with their fare. Additional pumpkins can be purchased on-site.

• Diesel Trains (First Class Lounge): $25 for all ages
• Steam Trains (Open-Air/Caboose): Adults $14, Children $8
• Toddlers (Ages 0-2): Free on all trains (must ride on an adult’s lap).
