The library’s Fix-It Clinic invites community members to bring in broken household items and work alongside volunteer Fix-It Coaches to troubleshoot and repair them. This participatory event is designed to help people keep items out of the landfill while learning practical repair skills along the way.
Guests may bring items like clothing, bedding, bags, woodworking pieces, basic mechanical objects, skateboards, sewing machines, and small kitchen appliances. Participants should be able to carry their item in and out of the building, and gas-powered items are not allowed. Registration is preferred, and families are encouraged to share in advance what item they plan to bring and what problem they are experiencing. Walk-ins will be accepted after registered participants have been helped. All ages are welcome, though young children will need adult help using tools.
This is not a free repair service, and repairs are not guaranteed. Participants are expected to take part in the troubleshooting and repair process and may leave with a working item, new skills, or next steps to continue on their own.
