Event Details

Do your little ones love face painting, spooky stories and getting creative? Cap off the holiday season of costumes at Nickel Plate Arts by celebrating Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) on November 1! The festive holiday honors and celebrates the memory of friends and family members who have passed away. Our kid-friendly, art-filled spin is a great way to introduce your children to this ancient Mexican tradition.

Day of the Dead is a colorful cultural celebration of life and creativity.

This festive Mexican holiday with ancient roots honors and celebrates the memory of friends and family members who have passed away. Our version amplifies the artistic aspects of Day of the Dead to appeal to the young and young at heart.

Families will explore Mexican art and culture by learning about the holiday’s traditions and participating in hands-on crafts and activities.

  • Craft a ‘Day of the Dead ‘bracelet with artist Esperanza Alonzo
  • Stamp and decorate a clay skull ornament with artist Darlene Patterson
  • Make ‘offrendas’ for our community memorial altar
  • Taste authentic Mexican food and treats
  • Help us break open piñatas (at 4 and 6 pm)
  • Dance and sing with music by The Mariachi Solo
  • Enjoy face painting, stories, and crafts
  • Costumes are highly encouraged!

Many crafts are $5 each but there are also free activities. Join us for this popular tradition!
