Cosmically Koteewi

Local astronomer Douglas Balogh, PhD, leads this program series exploring the cosmos and the tools people use to observe it. Drawing on a lifelong interest in the night sky, Doug shares both the science behind astronomy and the excitement of viewing celestial objects from everyday backyards.

Participants will learn about astronomy through talks focused on telescope technology and well-known deep-space objects. Doug also hosts star-gazing programs at Cool Creek and Koteewi Parks and is a member of the Indiana Astronomical Society.

Schedule Highlights

• March 7 at 7:00 pm: Advances in Amateur Telescopes explores how telescope technology has changed over time and what to consider when purchasing and using a telescope.
• April 4 at 7:30 pm: Advances in Amateur Telescopes looks at Charles Messier, highlights objects in the Messier Catalogue, and includes photographs of Messier objects.
