Broad Ripple Duck Race

The Broad Ripple Village Association invites the community to the Broad Ripple Duck Race on Sunday, June 1. This engaging family event offers not only a thrilling rubber duck race but also provides free activities for children and contributes to community enhancement projects.

Event Highlights:

• Date & Time: The event takes place on June 1, with children’s activities from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, and the duck race starting at 4:30 PM.
• Venue: Activities and race start on the Rainbow Bridge over the Broad Ripple Canal (Guilford Avenue north of Westfield Boulevard), racing towards the finish line near College Avenue.
• Activities: Prior to the race, families can enjoy free activities set up on the Rainbow Bridge.

Participating in the Duck Race

To enter the race, participants can buy a rubber duck or a group of 6 ducks known as a paddling. These ducks compete in a spirited race along the Broad Ripple Canal, providing entertainment for spectators and participants alike.

How to Buy Ducks:

• Single Duck: $6
• Paddling of Six: $30
• Purchase Locations: Ducks are available for purchase at the duck race, BRVA office, Broad Ripple Farmers Market (from May), and various BRVA events leading up to the race.
• Payment Method: Cash or debit cards accepted. Please note, credit cards are not accepted due to Indiana State Law.
• Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 years or older due to the event’s classification as a gambling event.

Prizes:

• Winners receive gift cards from Broad Ripple merchants, with first prize valued at over $500.
• Winners will be announced by name, and it is not necessary to be present to win.

Proceeds: The funds raised from the Broad Ripple Duck Race will support the BRVA’s initiatives aimed at community enrichment, investment attraction, public space amplification, and overall quality of life improvements in Broad Ripple.
