Synopsis: She Loves Me is a euphoric holiday-themed romantic comedy with a soaring score that shares its source material with the classic movies “The Shop Around the Corner,” “In the Good Old Summertime,” and “You’ve Got Mail.”. Amalia and Georg work together at a modest Hungarian parfurmerie and have disliked each other from the very beginning. He thinks she’s stuck up, and she thinks he’s arrogant and mean. But each rapturously writes to a lonely-hearts pen pal when the workday is done, and it doesn’t take long for the audience to see that they’re in love without realizing it. Inevitably through some of the most iconic songs in the musical theatre canon (“Vanilla Ice Cream”, “She Loves Me”, “Will He Like Me?”), Georg and Amalia discover the truth as well and rejoice in their love for each other at the story’s sweet and musically delightful conclusion.

The CSO proudly presents “America the Beautiful,” an evening dedicated to celebrating the rich tapestry of American life and music. Featuring an eclectic selection of orchestral favorites, a centerpiece of the evening will be Aaron Copland’s renowned composition, Lincoln Portrait.
A work that exemplifies the unifying power of music. Lincoln Portrait was composed in 1942 during the tumultuous times of World War II. In his seamless blend of original composition, Copland integrated excerpts from President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address with two iconic American folk songs of the era, creating a moving and patriotic homage to one of America’s greatest leaders.
The CSO will also feature a piece written by composer and musician Margaret Bonds, the first African American soloist to perform with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a 20-year-old pianist. Her work, Montgomery Variations, was written in 1963, during a period of racial turmoil in America when the fire bombing of the Birmingham, Alabama 16th Street Baptist Church occurred. This piece was seldomly played publically and was recorded for the first time in 2021. This piece consists of a group of freestyle variations of the same theme in the same key.
The closing finale will be Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, one of the most recognizable and beloved pieces of the mid-20th century. This piece incorporates Dvorak’s reflections on life in America and was composed in the early 1890s, while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America.

Synopsis: Whodunit…the Musical by longtime Broadway actor & playwright Ed Dixon, is a farcical musical mystery based on “The Circular Staircase” and “The Bat” by Mary Roberts Rinehart, often considered “America’s Agatha Christie.” A wealthy spinster and her cockney maid take a beautiful Connecticut summer home in 1931. When they arrive, all the help has quit, except for a very odd butler who warns that something strange is going on. They are soon joined by the spinster’s niece who’s brought a friend… a “friend” who turns out to be a young man! Heavens! After a night of attempted breakins, the sound of gun shots, and the discovery of a dead body – or two – the detective arrives and things get REALLY strange! Whodunit is a tuneful, riotous romp that’s part mystery, part drawing room farce, and all musical comedy
