With as much time as we’re spending at home, it’s possible you’re getting a little tired of the same old meals you’ve been having.
To mix up your breakfast or snack routine, try this homemade strawberry pop-tart recipe! Pop-tarts are an age-old crowd pleaser, guaranteed to delight you and your kids. And with everyone at home, this can be an opportunity to get all hands on deck and bake something together.
DIY Strawberry Pop-Tarts
Ingredients:
- 1 box Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust
- 1 jar strawberry preserves
- Egg wash (one beaten egg and 2 tablespoons milk)
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the pie crust and cut it into four equal rectangles.
Brush the pastry with the egg wash. Scoop 1 tablespoon of jam into the center of the pastry and spread lightly. Place the additional pastry crust on top and crimp with a fork to seal the edges.
Brush the remaining egg wash on the top of each pastry.
Bake pop-tarts for 20-25 minutes until golden.
While the pop-tarts are in the oven, mix the glaze ingredients in a bowl.
Allow pop-tarts to cool before adding the glaze and sprinkles.
Store in an airtight container. Eat as is or warm up in microwave. Enjoy!
