Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre presents Beauty and the Beast, the magical fairy tale that has delighted generations and been adapted by Disney into a hit Broadway musical, as its 2016 Family Show opening May 19. Featuring special discounts for kids ages 3-15, Beauty and the Beast at Beef & Boards has everything from an enchanted castle and a beautiful score to the all-important happy ending.
Set in a small provincial town, Beauty and the Beast at Beef & Boards tells the story of Belle, a young woman who yearns for more than her simple life. When her father Maurice becomes lost in the woods on his way to a fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle where he is imprisioned by an angry Beast. To save her father, Belle offers the Beast her own freedom in exchange, unaware he is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. For the spell to be broken, the Beast must learn to love and be loved – only then will he transform back to his former self. Belle may not know it, but time is running out for her to tame the Beast and save him and his household from enduring the spell forever.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Beef & Boards features the animated film’s Academy Award-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The memorable songs include “Be Our Guest” and the title song “Beauty and the Beast.”
Julia Bonnet (9 to 5) returns to the Beef & Boards stage in the role of Belle with newcomer Preston Yates as the Beast. Jonathan McHatton (Camelot, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) is Gaston with Alan M-L Wager (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Lumiere, Suzanne Stark (Sister Act, Peter Pan, The Drowsy Chaperone, Mary Poppins) as Mrs. Potts, John Vessels (The Addams Family, Smoke on the Mountain series, The Drowsy Chaperone) as Cogsworth and Samuel McKanney (Sister Act, The Addams Family) as LeFou.
