Metamora’s Halloween ride is Phantoms of the Canal Road, a 20-minute, open-air motorcar ride through the old canal town with gentle spooks and no blood or gore. Rides run Friday and Saturday evenings, Oct. 30-31. Tickets are $10 for ages 2 and up, and the ride suits kids who like spooky but not scary.
The Whitewater Valley Railroad’s Ghost Train is not running this year. Flooding on Aug. 13 damaged the line, and the volunteer-run railroad is raising money for repairs through its flood relief campaign.
A Haunted Ride Through Metamora
Motorcars are small rail cars that track crews use to inspect the line. On Phantoms of the Canal Road, they roll through the “haunted village” of Metamora, where riders meet gentle spooks and a few surprises along the way. The cars are open-air and run rain or shine, so dress for the weather. A blanket for the little ones doesn’t hurt on a late-October night.

2026 Dates, Times and Tickets
Rides run every 30 minutes from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31.
Tickets are $10 for ages 2 and up. Seating is limited and the railroad expects rides to sell out, so buy early through the railroad’s Phantoms page or by phone at 765-825-2054. Online orders add a 6% service fee (minimum $1).
Rides operate from Metamora, not from the railroad’s Connersville depot. The Metamora ticket office is at 19056 Main St.
Daytime Motorcar Rides
If an evening ride runs past bedtime, the railroad also runs 20-minute daytime motorcar rides through Metamora every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 31. Tickets are sold in person at the Metamora ticket office for a suggested $10 donation per rider, and all proceeds go toward the railroad’s repairs.
