Calling all Grammies and Grampas, Nanas and Pop Pops, Mimis and Paw Paws to make a date with the Grands to join The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis’ inaugural GRAND Adventure presented by CollegeChoice 529. It’s been a hard year of family separation due to the COVID-19 virus but this new, virtual event brings families together. On Saturday, September 12, 2020 at
10 a.m. EDT, GRAND Adventure celebrates National Grandparents Weekend by connecting several generations (parents are invited too) with fun, interactive opportunities to explore and learn together.
Here is just a sampling of the fun families will have (registrants will receive a packet of information and instructions before the event):
- Three generations of the iconic Indianapolis “Gregory” weather family (Bob, Kevin and kids) talk forecasting and family
- Dinosphere® Escape Room Challenge! Encounter a series of challenges to solve a GIGANTIC mystery in Dinosphere®!
- Extraordinary Paleontologists Drs. Phil Manning and Victoria Egerton share gigantic dinosaur poop facts and much more-sure to keep the grandkids giggling
- Take a collections tour of the Schaefer Planetarium and Space Object Theater
- Go behind-the-scenes with our paleo team in the R.B. Annis Mission Jurassic Prep Lab in Dinosphere®
- Conduct a salt & ice S.T.E.A.M. experiment
- Learn to make delicious ice cream cone cupcakes
- Create your own paleo art
- And more!
To register for this GRAND event, visit https://www.childrensmuseum.org/grand-night! Donations support the Rex Response Fund and include:
- A gift of at least $5 provides access to the virtual event PLUS:
- “A GRAND Guide to Dinosaurs” to prep grandparents (and parents) for dino discussions with grandkids
- At-home activities such as Grandkids interview Grandparents and send them letters (yes, by actual USPS mail!), a journalistic mad-lib, and more!
- A gift of $25 includes a special note from Rex (loveable Museum dino mascot)
- A gift of $50 provides a special Rex Photo and autograph
- A gift of $100 includes a special shout out during the event and all of the above.
Registered participants will be entered to win a $529 contribution to a CollegeChoice 529 Direct Savings Plan account. Four winners will be selected.
You do not have to watch the event live in order to participate (or win!), a link with the video recording will be sent out following the event to all registered participants to be able to to watch it on their own time (or watch again, if they choose)!
