A Family Tattoo

No matter how you feel about Barack Obama the President, I bet you can appreciate some of his parenting tactics, especially this one about keeping his daughters from getting tattoos.

Here is what President Obama said on the Today show regarding tattoos and his daughters:

“Michelle and I have used this strategy when it comes to things like tattoos. What we’ve said to the girls is, if you guys ever decide you’re going to get a tattoo, then Mommy and me will get the exact same tattoo, in the same place, and we’ll go on YouTube and show it off as a family tattoo.”

I don’t have any tattoos, but my wife does, so I’ve joked with her that she will have to be the parent in our house that has to deal with the kids wanting them, not me. Our oldest is only six, so tattoo talk is a long long ways away for us (hopefully), but I thought this was great. I could see us using a similar strategy dealing with a topic like this when our kids are older. Nothing makes something instantly less cool, than if mom or dad are doing it too, right?
